Bryn Hill joins us again for a tutorial on how to get an army of Khorne on the table – fast.
When I started my daemon army, I wanted to try to get things done relatively quickly as a game was planned and so I had to get a fair amount done in a pretty short time.
I knew that I would be going fairly Khorne heavy (the new Bloodthirster kit had just come out) so a quick scheme for Bloodletters was essential. What follows is my rather quick scheme to achieve a pretty good tabletop standard.
1. Prime the Bloodletter in black. I use a black aerosol primer to get a solid base coat down as fast as possible.

2. With the black coat dried, and having made sure there is a solid coat all over the model, stand the Bloodletters up on their bases, facing you, and spray them with a red aerosol or use an airbrush from above ONLY. Move the can around a bit over each model so the spray filters through and gets to the legs.

3. Once the red coat has dried, drybrush the whole model – black parts too – with Kindleflame Citadel Dry paint. Once dried coat the whole model with Carroburg Crimson GW Shade paint.

4. Pick out the horns, teeth and nails, for this I used Rakarth Flesh GW Base paint followed by a wash of Agrax Erthshade GW Shade paint. I painted the tongue black, followed by a light drybrush of Hellion Green GW Dry paint, then a wash of Druchii Violet GW Shade paint. Finally a thin coat of GW ‘Ardcoat varnish on the tongue.

5. Any metal areas I painted with Balthasar Gold GW Base paint and washed with Agrax Earthshade. The sword is finished after its drybrush with Kindleflame with a coat of Blood for the Blood God GW Technical paint.
6. The base is done by streaking some red, orange and yellow paint over the top of the red spray base that will have taken whilst spraying the Bloodletters earlier. Lastly, a good coating of Agrellan Earth GW Texture paint. My idea behind this is that the land under the Daemons is being sundered by the mere presence of the Daemons walking over it.

Once again, I hope this has helped you or inspired a paint scheme of your own, happy hobbying!
